Booklist Review

This reminiscence resulted from a collaboration between Patten, who spent one year caring for Georgia O'Keeffe, and Cardona-Hine, who recorded events shared by the elderly artist and her companion. A lovingly rendered portrait of O'Keeffe emerges through the recounting of rituals and routines that formed important elements of the artist's daily life in her home in Abiquiu, New Mexico. Although this book is by no means a gossipy account, scenes are included that provide a potent portrayal of companion Juan Hamilton's dominating temperament. The portraitists' compassionate demeanor complements their impressions of the gentility and humor displayed by O'Keeffe late in her life. ~--Alice Joyce
