Description
Since 1993, AmeriCorps has provided national and community service opportunities for thousands of Americans. AmeriCorps provides the opportunity for adults to apply their knowledge to real-life situations. Adults who participate in AmeriCorps are exposed to communities and work in unique roles. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the potential long-term impacts of AmeriCorps participation by questioning alumni. The qualitative methods self-administered questionnaire and heuristics inquiry were used to collect data from 31 AmeriCorps alumni, including the author. Seven predetermined service-learning outcomes were utilized during analysis to assist in coding the data. The results reveal a broad range of impacts experienced by AmeriCorps alumni
