Making it in Manhattan focuses on artists in New York, moving into lofts, studios and galleries for intimate scenes of the artists at work, where they discuss inspiration, aesthetic issues, the meaning of success, and how they overcame hardship to pursue a lifetime in art. A Ruling Passion focuses on intense personalities who've used their art to explore the emotional impact or dark humor of psychological truths and plumbs issues that affect artists, including community, motivation and controversy, finding one's audience, and "getting it right." Simplicity travels around the country to take viewers on a revealing trip into the studios and lives of several artists, touching on artists' relations with the press, ambiguous feelings about showing one's work, distilling concepts into an essence, and what it means to succeed in the art world.
