Description
Counselors are always seeking innovative methods of interacting with clients. This study explored the benefits of combining the genogram and the Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator (PMAI) instrument to create an Archetype Genogram for use in counseling with families and individuals. Participants completed the PMAI, which yielded their most active and dormant archetypes. Participants also assigned descriptors relative to the archetypes to influential family members and non-relatives on a three generational genogram. Participant's archetypes and assigned archetypes were studied for patterns of emerging evidence. The results of the study showed efficacy in using the Archetype Genogram in therapy, suggesting further research.
