Unfortunately, the simple theft investigation quickly takes a fatal turn when Carol and her friends discover a dead woman and the police suspect foul play. After tenderhearted Carol learns that the poor victim attended the school of hard knocks, she redoubles her efforts to learn the truth behind the escalating crimes taking place. What she doesn't expect is to unlock a vault of family secrets, student misdeeds, and workplace politics that just might culminate in another murder. Untangling the mess of motives and menace puts Carol's personal relationships to the test, but she resolves not to stop investigating until she finds all the right answers.
