Description
"This thesis explores how complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) may be utilized by an individual with chronic pain, and is a contribution to the gap in academic literature between medical studies and disability studies. Almost twenty years of the researcher's lived experiences are analyzed from an autoenthnographic perspective, including documenting immersion into different CAM therapies, and two interviews to examine perspectives in memory recall. Results indicate in this case CAM can be used in conjunction with mainstream medical practices to benefit a person's medical condition, but CAM alone cannot negate or fix a genetic condition."--leaf ii.
