Description
With an abundance of natural resources, from gold to timber to breathtaking tropical scenery, the Madre de Dios region in southeastern Peru is caught between the drive for development based on resource extraction and calls for conservation of one of the most biologically diverse areas on the planet. This thesis project is a proposal for a book exploring the concept of "sustainable development" in Amazon through a journey into Madre de Dios along the Interoceanic Highway being paved from pacific coast to the Brazilian border. The proposal consists of a summary and detailed chapter outline and two sample chapters.
