"Finding Your Voice" (FYV) is a twelve-week expressive arts trauma recovery group I have developed for Eco-Expressions: Healing Arts Center. Its foundational framework is based in trauma recovery and expressive arts healing. Through the careful and deliberate integration of multiple books, the workshops developed for FYV will present directives, strategies, and techniques to incorporate creative expression into a whole mind, body, spirit healing experience. Centered around reconstructing the lives of each participant by focusing on their present lives, promoting empowerment, and by presenting them with an exploration of themselves on social and ecological levels, this program design will provide the space to share personal stories in a place of safety and support, to create a sense of community, and help to reduce feelings of isolation. Through intentional landscape and structure design, in addition to multi-modal approaches to the creative expression, participants will be supported in becoming attuned to their inner creative selves by gaining knowledge and understanding of capabilities and vulnerabilities through the various modalities offered within.
