Devastated by the death of her boyfriend after a routine surgery, fourth-year medical student Lynn Pierce investigates the accident and discovers a string of suspicious deaths at the hospital.

Lynn Pierce, a fourth-year medical student at Mason Dixon University, thinks she has her life figured out. But when her otherwise healthy boyfriend, Carl, enters the hospital for routine surgery and fails to return to consciousness after the prodedure, an MRI confirms brain death. Convinced there's more to the story than what the authorities are revealing, Lynn and her initially reluctant lab partner, Michael Pender, hunt down evidence of medical error or malpractice. They find that hospitals associated with Middleton Healthcare, ihospital admisions.
