Description
Ancient cultures all had their own belief systems, which reflected their connection with the natural world. This episode examines the ways in which ancient societies appeased gods and nature to protect themselves from calamities such as famine, disease and war. Explores animism among peoples such as the Celts, human sacrifice in Carthage and the Aztec empire, and prostitution in Mesopotamia. Discusses the Great Flood story told in many cultures.
